The ultimate goal: do not quit. Finish 26 projects that you can be proud of in one year. That’s it.
I’m approaching 30. Fast. And let’s be honest, I always assumed I was gonna be a millionaire by this time. Where did it all go wrong!
It’s time for a new challenge.
I get bored of things. There are always shiny new projects right around the corner.
I want to be able to power through.
But I also like learning new skills. I’d like to become a homo universalis: a person whose expertise spans a significant number of different subject areas, known to draw on complex bodies of knowledge to solve specific problems.
Solution: I’ll do 26 projects in one year. A new project every 2 weeks. I’ll be able to learn a lot of new things, but I will also have to commit to the challenge as a whole. If I quit after 10 projects, I lose.
The subjects will be very wide ranging: studying deep learning, writing a book, game dev, gym, learning Spanish, meditation etc.
Start date: 1 Jan 2019.
Also, to get my feet wet, I will start experimenting with this framework beforehand. In November I will try to get in shape.
Test Challenge #1:
- Run a half marathon (most I ever ran is around 13 km or 8 miles)
Test Challenge #2
- Be able to do 20 consecutive pull ups (my max is around ~10)
- Be able to bench my own body weight (86 kg or 190 lbs)
- Be able to deadlift 120 kg (264 lbs)
All of these should be completed by the end of November 2018.
